ResearchMy research has recently focused on effects due to the fact that the number of colors in the strong interaction is three, rather than infinity. In parton showers, used to simulate high energy collisions, the three colors of nature are approximated by infinitely many colors.As our understanding of LHC data is filtered through our understanding of event generators, I think it is very important to understand the limitations and uncertainties associated with parton showers. My current research goal is therefore to answer the question: Are effects from the fact that the number of colors in QCD is three rather than infinity important in parton showers?
